2) I am now the owner of a 1968 C3 coupe VIN 194378S413161 which i bought off Dave Aspinall from San Diego in late 2010 and imported to Australia. Car is a matching # original british green L36 Manual. Have just completed a full mechanical restoration and have purchased L88 heads and manifold and are about to fit. April 27, 2012. 2) Original unrestored matching numbers 390HP, 4 speed Corvette 427. Non-optioned car, manual brakes, manual steering. Made to go straight and FAST! Last October my car started to blow smoke out the tailpipe- no power loss, just some smoke. So, I had the heads removed and had a complete valve job done. That didn't fix it. Upon further inspection, we found that cylinder #5 had a broken oiler ring. It was decided to do a complete rebuild- why just pull 1 piston? I purchased the complete rebuild kit- NOS GM pistons, wrist pins, rings, bearing, gaskets, the whole shabang. My mechanic (whom I had prepaid to do the work, live and learn) went out of business, and skipped town with my cash. I was able to retrieve my Corvette, and all the parts, but do not have the money, the tools, or the skills to complete this. My Corvette was in great running condition prior to the 1 oiler ring catastrophy. All the parts are there to get it back to running condition. Complete rebuild kit is waiting for installation. I even have an NOS wiper motor ready to install. Heads already have the valve job competed. Colors from the trim plate. Built date is H06. 49,618 miles. June 6, 2009. |
